Sri Lankan Defence Web site Has been hacked

Tamil freedom fighters of Sri Lanka (LTTE) hacked the Sri Lankan Army web site on May first morning. They placed the horror images of the killed civilians by the Sri Lankan Military.

News Item :

Two government web news portals – Army and Lankapuvath websites were hacked yesterday by web hackers and some images uploaded, official sources said.

Army spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said the Army’s official website ( was hacked  early yesterday, compelling the military to temporarily shut it down.

Charging the LTTE or their proxies of engaging in web terrorism, the spokesman said some horrible and gruesome images had been uploaded to the site.

“However we managed to restore the website within a few hours after it was hacked,” Brigadier Nanayakkara said adding that the attack was another desperate bid by LTTE propagandists to hide the truth on the humanitarian mission being revealed to the world.

Meanwhile, hours after hacking the army website, another government news portal was also hacked by suspected LTTE hackers.

Director General of the Government Information Department Anusha Pelpita said that action had been taken to restore the website soon.
