Re: The low quality   N97’s lens protector that damages the lens.

I  thought to write this letter on behalf of millions of Nokia fan all around the world.

I started to use Nokia Mobiles from Nokia 3210 and bought every key models like Nokia 7610 , Nokia N80, N95 8GB , Xpress Music 5800 and now Nokia N97.

Within 3 weeks of use and after taking about 15 photos my Nokia N97 camera got scratched !. Almost my heart broken to see this.Nokia’s mistake in the creation of n97 ,that causes camera protector to damage the lens to ,cannot be taken lightly.

The money and time I spent along with Nokia is extremely high. Since I am a loyal Nokia fan I think that I have the right to take this issue- The N97’s disappointing camera issue.

After about five months of feedbacks and complains made online Nokia now officially accepted it’s mistake in mounting the lens cover that caused inconvenience and damage to the expensive flagship device .

In some instances (it seems to be pretty rare, despite the volume of N97s out there) the lens cover may have been mounted a little bit too close to the lens glass. Where this is the case it’s possible for particles of dust or grit to get stuck under the cover, which in turn could affect the lens.

If you’re an N97 user and you’ve noticed the image quality on your device is affected by this, then this is what you should do:

1. Take a soft cloth and clean the lens.
2. If that doesn’t work, get in touch with your nearest Nokia Care Point where the Nokia Care Point staff can then determine whether or not the lens and or the lens cover mechanism needs replacing under the device warranty.: Nokiaconversations

During this period ,There are several solutions given by nokia users world wide. The most famous one is

“permanent removal of the lens cover of N97″

This is a really a shame for such flagship device.

The price of the Nokia N97 nearly a price of a Laptop and expensive than a decent netbook. Now we are mising the main feature that we suppose to enjoy the quality camera.

If Nokia has a good Business Ethics this is the time to prove it by doing  following suggestions :

1)Nokia should immediately take steps to  solve the camera lens issue by changing with new mechanism all over the world via Nokia care centers(like dell once compensate their faulty battery with a replacement worldwide ).

2) This process should be done very faster without any denial and arguments Any customers who have original Nokia N97 should be qualify for a lens cover change.Since I am connected with hundreds of n97 users via twitter,facebook and blogs ,what i know about the Nokia cares serivce for the camera cover issue is “extremely slow”

I strongly suggest   Nokia  to take a prominent action and solve the issue,keep  the fans for ever with you Nokia.

Nokia uses this OS in it’s tablets already and this is going to be the Nokia’s sole Os in late 2010 as per the news online . Maemo Harmattan is otherwise known as Maemo 6, with the latest publicly available release being Maemo 4.1. That leaves one whole big bad version of Maemo out of the picture.

Nokia refuses all such allegations ,says to stick  with Symbian OS and no ideas to change to any in the near future. .But it is true, the Symbian Series 60 OS became obsolete and  has very slow growth in the recent times .

In order to secure Nokia’s Market ,Nokia should do something with the OS too.

Microsoft and Nokia joined together to offer Microsoft Office Mobile version in Nokia Devices.

The two companies announced their new deal today for the press.

“the first time Microsoft will make Office for non windows mobile phones,” says Microsoft Business Division President Stephen Elop

It is learned that around 200 Million Nokia smart phones are in the use all around the world. Microsoft wants to take over all via Mobile office.

Quick Office ,Mobi Office are the companies offering Microsoft Office for mobiles so far, for an acceptable working level.

A blogger,John Hargrave of Zug.com got angry when he revealed that mobile service providers are not serious about the customer’s privacy. Mainly the personal data of the customers . As a user of Verizon mobile service  he wanted to point out the serious mistake the company does. But he had a different approach.

Nokia office

Net sales dropped 25 percent YoY to €9.9 billion and EPS came in at €0.15, a 60 percent YoY decline. Ouch. On the brighter side of things, Nokia is still selling tons of phones even if it forgot how to make money in the process. The company showed a solid improvement compared to Q1 with a 7 percent increase in net sales and 103.2 million handsets shipped, up 11 percent from Q1.

Global market share was somewhat of a bright spot as well, rebounding from 37 percent in Q1 to 38 percent in Q2. The 5800 XpressMusic was most definitely the shining star in Q2 just as it was in Q1; 3.7 million units sold this quarter… 6.8 million units in all… Over a million sold each month. Nokia has also hawked a total of 5 million E71s since launching the device — definitely a solid showing from a gorgeous handset. There’s one final bit of bad news unfortunately, and this where stockholders really started getting lightheaded: * Nokia expects industry mobile device volumes in the third quarter 2009 to be at approximately the same level or up slightly sequentially. * Nokia expects its mobile device market share in the third quarter 2009 to be approximately at the same level sequentially.

* Nokia continues to expect 2009 industry mobile device volumes to decline approximately 10% from 2008 levels. * Nokia now expects its market share in mobile devices to be approximately flat in 2009, compared with 2008. This is an update to Nokia’s earlier target to increase its market share in mobile devices in 2009. Nokia shares were down about 12 percent over night.

I am impressed by Apple’s strategy.The money Apple earns from Apple store is bigger than earning from Apple iphones. Nokia and other vendors identified this very later and started to launch their own app stores ,but not successful as apple.

If you believe Apple’s advertising, there is an “app” for almost everything on the iPhone, except figuring out the value of all those applications to Apple. It is hard to quantify but likely significant. First, there is the direct revenue from apps. Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi estimates Apple’s 30% commission on apps that cost money may be generating $150 million a year, a number he expects will increase quickly.

That is tiny compared with the iPhone’s hardware revenue,$2.8 billion in the six months to March. The more important value is intangible. By widening the variety of uses for the device, the apps make the iPhone more valuable to its owners. Moreover, the cost of creating apps is borne by outside developers, not Apple, notes former Alson Capital analyst Michael Bressler. Apple has some costs in operating the App Store.

And because Apple has such a lead, more than 50,000 apps versus 2,000 for Research In Motion’s BlackBerry, the app store helps the iPhone stand out from the crowd. That isn’t unusual in the tech industry, of course. Microsoft has armies of developers building on its technology. But it is a little different for Apple, both in its revenue share and its control of which apps get onto the device.

Apple is famously efficient in research and development, spending 3.4% of its fiscal 2008 revenue on R&D, compared with 6.2% spent by RIM and 12%-15% by Microsoft, Google, Motorola and Palm in their latest fiscal years. That is presumably mostly because of Apple’s narrow focus and the integration of its technology across its devices. But saving money on app development also helps

Nokia_3720

A new Nokia phone is getting ready to join the ranks of dust and water resistant phones. The new device – called Nokia 3720 (perhaps “classic” is not a wild guess here) – is IP54 certified, meaning it’s dust and splash resistant.

The IP rating is an international certification that specifies the level of weather-proofing of any product. The first digit indicates protection from foreign objects – 5 in this case means that while some very fine dust might get in the phone, it won’t impede its operation. The second digit is for the level of water protection – in the case of the Nokia 3720 it’s a 4, meaning the handset is splash resistant.


The rest of the information about Nokia 3720 we have is limited – it will be available in September in T-Mobile stores among others. We guess we’ll just have to wait for subsequent leaks and the official announcement to find out the rest of the specs.
